ART OF THE DRAW (Anonymous)

"Drawing represents art as its root, the fundamental
starting point for creation in both the arts and sciences
for painting, sculpting, engineering, design and architecture."

About Tommy Minor

Tommy Minor started his art studies at age 7 in private art lessons. He worked in charcoal, pencil, oils and silver jewelry. He continued throughout secondary education taking every drawing and art course offered by his school. He graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree with an art emphasis. While at the university he was on staff as a graphic designer and operated his own business in graphic design and delineation. He won second place in a national design competition for The Marble Institute of America and won first place in a design competition for Kansas State University’s Student Union. Upon graduation he was employed as a corporate architect and delineator for a Fortune 500 company preparing architectural design solutions and presentations to their Board of Directors. He is licensed to practice architecture by the National Council Architectural Registration Board. He practiced architecture, design/build and real estate development as a senior executive for 40 years. In 1995 he started his own consulting practice. Throughout his professional career creating art continued to demand his attention including watercolor and tempera painting and studying with accomplished artists. His architectural education and training as an artist, graphic designer and professional delineator nurtured his continual desire to separate from the business world and create art. In 2015 he converted his business office into an art studio where he draws and paints today. He works in watercolor, graphite, tempera, pastels, acrylics and oils. As he expanded and experimented in mixed mediums he found success in the flexibility that allowed him to achieve the detail, texture and color relationships for realistic painting. Mixed medium drawings and paintings has allowed him to work in a large-scale format.

He is a member of the Tempe Arizona Artists Guild.
